Estimates & Diagnostic Fees
The Computer Doctor offers FREE consultation and esitmates to our valued customers. We will listen you on what you think the problem is, access the situation, and give you an educated response to how to proceed. Most of the time the customer and the technician are on the same page and the estimate comes pretty close to matching the final price, but sometimes the customer or the technician have no idea what going on inside the device until they actually do a diagnostic.
Athough we are happy to answer as many questions or concerns possible for our customers at no charge, sometimes we have to open up the device and do extensive testing to find the real cause of the issue. In this case we charge a $40.00 non-refundable diagnostic fee. However, if you choose to get the work done with us there is no fee. We just put the $40.00 fee towards you final bill.
So please understand that a technician may not be able to answer your questions in a definative way without more data. The only way to gain that information is to setup a work order, have the customer sign a service agreement, and have the technician to work their magic on finding the problem. 75% of the time just doing the diagnostic fixes the customers issue because of the steps the technician had to perform.
The diagnostic fee helps cover the time we spend trying to diagnose your device issues. Even if you are convinced it's the power supply our technicians are still going to thoroughly examine your machine to determine why the power supply went out, what other peripherals could have been affected, all to give our customers the service they deserve. As always if the customer wishes to have the repair completed with The Computer Doctor, there is no diagnostic fee.
We also want to assure our customers that we will never fix things without first informing them of each and every issue we find. We will never get you stuck into a situation where you can afford to fix the machine or pay your bill. In-fact, all work will stop on a machine until we get directed to continue work if an issue arrises that would be more costly than the original intended visit by the customer.
If we preform a diagnostic on any device and have determined that we can't fix the device we will not charge you a diagnostic fee. If the device is dead on arrival and, can't be fixed without full device replacement, we will not charge you a diagnostic fee. However, if we determine that it can be fixed and the customer does not want to pursue the remedy for the device we charge the $40.00 diagnostic fee. We can put that fee towards the cost of upgrading to newer equipment, cost of services, parts, etc. We call this the NO FIX = NO FEE policy.
Don't forget our work is backed by a customer satisfaction guarantee. If your not satisfied with 14 days of service we will do everything in our power to fix the issue and without any extra charges. Find us on a slow day, after your 14 day guarantee, and we'll still probably fix it for you at no charge as long as it can be determined it was something resulting from our fix or the same issue. Obviously there are limits to this exception so just give us a call or drop by and we'll talk about it.

After 3 years or so, Windows starts to lose performance and starts crashing and locking up. Believe it or not, this is actually normal.
This process makes your PC run like new again! It will regain its performance, be sparking clean, and get a new lease on life.
Hobbyists and performance fans do this every 2-3 years because Windows actually deteriorates over time.
If your PC is over 3 years old, we urge replacing the hard drive as well. It’s the part that gets the most wear & tear, and tends to
fail earlier than the other parts of your PC. It makes sense to do this, since you’re reinstalling Windows anyway.
